AROMATHERAPY AND HISTORY
The use of aromatic plants and their essential oils date back to ancient Egypt, Greece, Rome, china and India. In ancient Egypt aromatic plants and their essential oil where used in cosmetics medicine, mummification air purification. The term aromatherapy dates back to the 1930 and to the scientific studies of French chemist ren’e Maurice gattefosse’ on the anti-microbial effects of essential oils.
USES OF AROMATHERAPY
Aromatherapy is used to cure disorders like skin problem such as colds coughs and sinusitis, arthritis rheumatism, headaches, pain of muscular aches, migraine and stress-related conditions such as insomnia, anxiety and depression air born infection.
AROMATHERAPY APPLICATION
Aromatherapy is applied in four basic ways
1) Massage
2) Baths
3) Compresses
4) Inhalation
Aromatherapy essential oils are extremely concentrated,so before usage these oils are diluted. For example aromatherapy essential oils are diluted with vegetable oils for massages or with water for bath and inhalation. Some aromatherapy essential oils might be consumed but this only done under the supervision of a professional. This is because some oils may be poisonous if consumed improperly. Advocates of aromatherapy strongly believe that essential oils can have a marked effect on the body and mind.
In the United States aromatherapy is basically a self-taught practice but could still be practice by professionals licensed in order healing therapies such as massages physical therapies or nursing.
